“If you don’t come back with a bloody nose, you didn’t try hard enough. ”

法新社5日报道称，拥有118年历史的西点军校“枕头大战”于上月20日进行。

这场一年一度的“盛会”由一年级新生组织，旨在培养“集体精神”、“联络感情”，同时也是为了庆祝夏季培训的圆满结束。

According to the report by Agence France Presse on Sept. 5, the pillow fight at West Point with a history of 118 years took place on Aug. 20. Freshmen organized the pillow fight as a way to foster team work spirit, build bonds and celebrate the completion of summer training.

今年的“枕头大战”中，很多人为了追求刺激，甚至把头盔一类的硬物塞进枕头。

Hard objects, even helmets, were stuffed into pillows for excitement during the pillow fight this year.

一名新生亲历者在社交网络发文称：“脑震荡、断胳膊、断腿、肩膀脱臼、肋骨打折，这‘枕头大战’太残暴了。”

One freshman posted on Twitter: “Concussions, broken legs and arms, dislocated shoulders, and broken ribs. That’s one hell of a pillow fight. ”

经校方证实，在这场数百人参加的混战中，共有30人受伤，其中24人被打出了脑震荡，还有人受到不同程度的外伤。

West Point officials have confirmed that several hundred students were engaged in the melee, injuring 30 cadets, including 24 who suffered concussions and others that suffered various wounds.

据了解，西点新生入学第一年要进行为期7周的严格培训，期间新生间甚至不能相互沟通。在军校文化的背景下，不少学员对“激烈搏杀”的场景十分渴望。

It is reported that freshmen shall accept seven-week rigorous training at West Point during which time cadets are not supposed to speak to each other. Under the background of military culture, quite a few students long for “fierce fight and killing”.
