题目:Some people think everyone should be a vegetarian because people don’t need to eat meat to stay healthy.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Introduction
In present-day society, there is an ever-growing trend for citizens to consume healthier foods and the popularity of vegetarianism is steadily increasing. Despite the fact that humans have been eating meat since ancient times, there is a growing body of scientific and medical evidence that supports that a vegetarian lifestyle indeed promotes longevity.
Body
Meat could be considered a vital component of one’s diet, providing iron, protein and other essential vitamins for positive physical growth and development. Although there are natural supplements and multivitamins that vegetarians can take to replace these nutrients, individuals lacking meat in their diets are not as strong as carnivores. While it is widely believed that red meats are high in saturated fats, which lead to high blood pressure, chicken and fish are better options as they contain greater amounts of protein and low quantities of fat and calories.
Vegetarianism, as an ideal, not only respects the sanctity of animal life but also leads to having guilt-free and nutritionally-adequate meals. Studies have consistently indicated that excessive consumption of meat increases the risks of contracting diseases, such as cancer or heart disease. Being a herbivore, at the same time organizing well-planned food choices, is associated with a host of health benefits including reduced risk of diabetes and obesity, building strong bones, decreasing instances of illness, having more energy and avoiding toxic chemicals.
Conclusion
Consequently, eating meat is not a dire necessity for the absolute survival of the human race and its overconsumption serves to decrease one’s lifespan. In fact, the most balanced diet would include meat consumption in moderation, signifying that being an omnivore is the most productive option.
